Constance (Connie) J. Walker is a thought-leader and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in Community Economic Development. She is the founder of Walker & Associates Consulting and is committed to helping our clients foster sustainable investments that will improve the economic, social, and environmental conditions of low-income communities around the world. Her unique career path includes experience at all levels of the nonprofit infrastructure, most notably as Executive Director of the Greater Richmond Community Development Corporation, Program Officer of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, and Program Officer and Director of the Program Related Investment Fund for The James Irvine Foundation. After retiring as President in 2021, Connie was ecstatic to hand over day-to-day management of the firm while supporting expansion and strategic thinking across key work with the goal of boosting more leaders and organizations.
Connie has a BS in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley and is an alumnus of the Development Training Institute’s National Internship in Community Economic Development. She is also a former Co-Chair of the Neighborhood Funders Group, an affinity group of the Council on Foundations, and a founding member of Bay Area Blacks in Philanthropy which evolved into the Black Funders Network of the Bay Area. Connie is fueled by faith and inspired by her daughter and husband of more than 45 years.
